During Thanksgiving, remember that dogs, cats and turkey bones are not a good combination. Turkey bones can splinter and cause blockages and perforations. Skin and fat can cause diarrhea, vomiting and pancreatitis.

Never leave food where your pets can get to it.

Other dangers can be pop-up thermometers, string, skewers, cellophane wrap, tin foil or plastic bags. These can all be very tempting to your pets.

Remove all leftover garbage and place it where it cannot be accessed by your pets or wildlife.

Pets and alcohol don’t mix either.

Thanksgiving can be hectic. To avoid injuries, it may be best to keep your pets out of the kitchen.
