SERVICES OFFERED

Anesthesia

Anesthesia is tailored to the individual patient, determined by the pet’s health as well as the procedure .  We use both injectable and inhalation anesthetics.  Due to their safety and short duration of effect, we use only Isofluorane and Sevofluorane as our inhalation anesthetics.

 Anesthetic Safety

While nothing can guarantee that an anesthetic emergency won’t arise, we take many precautions to ensure the safety of our patients.  Endotracheal tubes are positioned after anesthetic induction, and a respiratory monitor ensures proper breathing.   In addition, a cardiac monitor and pulse oximetry are used to ensure that normal heart rate and rythm and oxygen levels are maintained.  A highly skilled technician assists the doctor at all times during the procedure.

Annual Wellness Exams

This is a comprehensive exam, during which the doctor completes a thorough physical exam and addresses owner’s concerns regarding their pet. We encourage our client’s input and view this as a time when information exchange between the pet’s owner and the doctor can benefit the patient.  Based on our findings, further procedures may be recommended.  Vaccinations and heart worm testing  are also done during this exam.   It is our belief that the annual exam is the single most important contribution to the longevity and health of your pet.

Behavioral Consultations

Behavior issues are varied and as such may require variable treatment options.  We provide counseling to the owner to improve understanding of the problem, and suggest behavioral modification plans.  We augment this with appropriate medications if warranted.

Cancer Treatment

We offer both surgical and chemotherapeutic options for our patients.  In addition we regularly refer patients to boarded veterinary oncologists in private practice and veterinary schools.

Dental Health

Our dental team, comprised of a veterinarian and a highly skilled technician , perform full dental prophylactic treatments that include ultrasonic scaling and polishing.  Extractions are performed in our facility, however root canals, crowns and restorations are referred to area veterinary dental specialists.  We emphasize dental health and periodontal disease prevention since research has shown that poor oral health increases the risk of many life-threatening diseases in dogs and cats.

Geriatric Health

As pets age, they are at greater risk of developing an illness.  Many of these are not obvious until they are very advanced.  Early detection may help prevent further worsening or slow their progression. We offer a Senior Wellness package to facilitate this .  It includes a complete blood count, chemistry screen, thyroid test and urinalysis.  Coupled with our annual recommendation of a heartworm check in dogs and fecal analysis in dogs and cats, we are able to detect diseases at a much earlier stage and initiate therapy.

On-site Laboratory

A full in-house laboratory allows us to run serum chemistry panels, complete blood counts with differentials, urinalyses, coagulation times, electrolytes, blood gasses and blood pH. We also  offer in-house FIV, feline leukemia, heartworm, Ehrilichia canis, and antifreeze testing.   Tests which can’t be done on premises are delivered nightly,  by a courier,  to a commercial laboratory.  We receive most of the test results by the following morning via fax.  We understand the importance of timely answers, both for our pet’s health, and their owner’s peace of mind, and make every effort to minimize waiting time.
